お客様のおもてなしに、今すぐ使える実践的な英語を音声つきで紹介していきます。

今回は、免税ショップでの場面から。音声を再生して、聞こえた通りに声に出して発音練習してみましょう。

A: Tax-free is available for purchases over ¥5,000.

B: Great. What do I need?

A: Your passport, please. We’ll seal the items as required.

A: 5,000円以上で免税が可能です。

B: いいですね。必要なものは？

A: パスポートをご提示ください。規定どおり封をします。

１）tax-free

• 意味：免税（消費税がかからない）。

• 使い方：免税対応の可否を伝える／尋ねる、看板表示。

• 例文

Tax-free is available.（免税対応しています。）

Do you offer tax-free?（免税はありますか？）

This store is tax-free.（当店は免税店です。）

• メモ：形容詞としても使う（tax-free shopping / tax-free counter）。空港の「duty-free（関税免除）」と区別して使うと丁寧。

2）purchases over ¥5,000

• 意味：5,000円以上の購入で（条件）。

• 使い方：条件の案内・確認。看板なら “¥5,000+” や “minimum purchase ¥5,000”。

• 例文

Tax-free for purchases over ¥5,000.（5,000円以上で免税。）

The minimum purchase is ¥5,000.（最低購入金額は5,000円です。）

You need to spend at least ¥5,000.（少なくとも5,000円以上のお買い上げが必要です。）

• メモ：厳密に「以上」を示すなら “¥5,000 or more / at least ¥5,000”。“over ¥5,000” も一般的。

3）seal the items (as required)

• 意味：規定に従って商品を封印する（開封防止袋に入れる）。

• 使い方：手続きの説明・依頼。

• 例文

We’ll seal the items as required.（規定どおり封印します。）

We need to seal your purchases in a bag.（購入品を袋に封印する必要があります。）

Please don’t open the bag until you leave Japan.（出国まで開封しないでください。）

Can you seal this separately?（これは別で封印できますか？）

• メモ：言い換え “seal the bag / sealed bag / tamper-evident bag”。「パスポートの提示」は “Your passport, please.” でOK。
