アメリカ式とイギリス式とで、引用符の使い方に違いはある？

引用符には２種類あります。アメリカ式ではダブル・クォーテーションマーク（“ ”）を用い、イギリス式ではシングル・クォーテーションマーク（‘ ’）を用います。

引用符の内側にさらに引用符が入る場合、アメリカ式ではシングル・クォーテーションマーク（‘ ’）を使い、イギリス式ではダブル・クォーテーションマーク（“ ”）を使います。

アメリカ式

According to the newspaper, “When the President was asked his opinion, he replied ‘It doesn’t matter.’ ”

イギリス式

According to the newspaper, ‘When the President was asked his opinion, he replied “It doesn’t matter” ’.
